Well, as we've been promising for a while, and as some MSDN Subscribers have noticed, Beta 2 is in the wild. MSDN Subscribers can download the VSTS bits from the subscriber downloads page, and everyone else can get Express. Getting these pages built and up has been an ... interesting experience, with major heavy lifting from most of the people on the Content Strategy, Site Management and Developer Division Technical Marketing Team. Some of the sections of this big push I'm most excited by:
- An entirely new Beta 2 section to replace the old Whidbey section. Mostly a reorg, but Brian and I are also planning a lot of new content to go here. First up, the TechEd hands on labs, so you can get your hands dirty with ASP.NET 2.0.
- Cute little Get VWD page (after 8 cycles of revisions)
- Coding4Fun -- an entirely new section of MSDN that has me psyched. Not only because up until recently it was just a glimmer in the eyes of Dan & Brian (based on work Duncan has done in the past), but also because I feel personally responsible for the site (blame me if you find a broken link, I built the whole site, including MSDNing the HTML we got). Also, the articles on there are freaking cool! Playing with serial connections, networks, game dev and more. Check it out with your shiny new copy of Visual Web Developer Express.
Now, after getting you Express, updated VS2005 and TeamSystem and the new Coding4Fun sections, I know what you're going to say, "When's RTM?"
Soon, soon...
