As I sit here, preparing the
C# dev center for launch, and listening to
KMFDM's "
A Drug against war", I have decided on a non-technical (well, as if much I do isn't vagely related in some way to tech stuff) project for this site. So, I introduce to you "The Alphabet Project". Wherein I will attempt to blog once daily for the next 26 days, providing slightly veiled commentary based on a word starting with the letter of the day. Kind of like Sesame Street, but with bitterness and snarkiness. Apologies in advance.
A is for Astigmatism
Astigmatism is when your cornea doesn't have the same curvature, meaning that your eyes lack focus. One part of your eye will focus on one area (of the retina), while other parts focus on something else entirely, perhaps not even what you want them to. This leads to a condition that is more difficult to repair than simple myopia (near-sightedness) or hyperopia (far-sightedness) as it can be a combination of those two, at the same time. Repair does take some effort, but inevitably involves trying to get the entire eye focussing on the same thing. This requires active work, however, and cannot simply be something that people wish for. Of course, it is also important that someone decide just what needs to be focussed on as well.
