What's up with Firefox?

First off -- I *love* Firefox, and it's been my main browser (except for viewing MSDN or editing this blog [gotta fix that] or my Yahoo music) for quite a while now. However, version 1.5 has been blowing out semi-regularly on my laptop lately (see figure). Nothing crazy (IMO), certainly little has changed since 1.07, other than a few fewer extensions. Anyone else having these problems?

Hey Kent, it's been a long time.

Actually, I was too scared to try and run FF1.5, hearing about all of the extension issues. I'm happy at FF1.0.7, and BTW, I view MSDN through the IE Tab extension, surprised your not using it. Absolutely the best, it's basically a tab that wraps the IE COM object, dialogs, messages, everthing is from IE.
http://ietab.mozdev.org/

It also adds a IE Tab Options menu to the tools menu of FF once installed. Enjoy it, and Merry Christmas.

I am still running 1.0.7 with the following extensions:

IE View 1.2.7
googlebar 0.9.5.06
Flashblock 1.2.9
Omea Connector 0.99.671.6

Often (once a week or so), Firefox crashes on me while connected to a major media web site or my e-mail (CMP, BusinessWeek, Yahoo! Mail, etc.). The one commonality that I have noticed is that it seems to crash while loading content from one of the site's ad servers. As a result, I can load the same page twice and not have it crash every time.

I have added this information to the feedback agent, but I don't have specific enough information to isolate the error. Like you, I do find it annoying.

Lyle -- you live! Good to hear.

OK, I'll give IETab a try. That way I don't have to hack FCKEditor or XStandard into CommunityServer so that I can edit posts from Firefox.

Hi Weston,

1.07 crashing was definitely not a problem I had. However, I'm starting to think you may have twigged on the problem. I've suspected that my crashes are due to network access/loading issues, as two of the tabs I always have are Google News and Bloglines, both of which do periodic reloads. Bloglines has ads in some of the feeds as well. Maybe some kind of ad server delay/crash is to blame?

All versions of firefox have been stable for me. I even brave MSDN with it - it's a dirty job but no one has to do it!

You like the Screenshots?

No crashing problems here (1.5), but I think you'll find that the new MSDN (http://msdn2.microsoft.com) looks a lot better in Firefox than the current site.

I had some problems with FF in the past they all seemed to be due the migration of an old profile to a new browser. I just nuke my old profile in "Application Data\Mozilla"
