A blackfly in my chardonnay

Apart from the fact that line isn't really "Ironic" (I really don't think), it's been in my head lately. You see, I managed to snag a Popfly invitation, so I've been trying to create a cute/hot/whatever mash-up to impress friends and neighbours.

So far, I've tried to build a mash-up on three computers:
  1. My laptop: Silverlight 1.0 beta won't install. I've dug around, but can't find any evidence of any pre-release code that might conflict with it. I've even rebooted it (something that happens normally monthly with the patch release), to no avail. Sadness and despair (although I do hate that laptop).
  2. My desktop: I can run existing Popfly "apps", but attempting to run the designer locks up my machine for at least 10 minutes. I say "at least", as that's how long I'm willing to wait before I turn off the machine, restart and start playing WoW again. Major lockup -- Task Manager even can't be started. Bah.
  3. M's machine: Popfly works, designer has a few beta issues, but happiness fills me. This leads to the "ironic" part: M's machine is a Mac. This means that my current best path to Popfly dev is OS X. Definitely a tribute to the Silverlight developers, and to those Popfly folk who made sure it was "cross-browser, cross-platform compatible." (For some reason, I feel like thanking Aaron in particular).
Oh, well, it gives me a reason to kick her off of it for a while.
